چکیده

A mathematical model of Peristaltic pumping of a particle-fluid suspension in a circular tube with an inserted catheter has been developed. The coupled differential equations for both the fluid and the particle phases have been solved and the expression for the flow rate, pressure drop, friction forces at the tube and the catheter wall have been derived. It is found that the pressure drop increases with the particle concentration for any given catheter size (diameter) and also with the increasing catheter size for any given particle concentration. The friction force at the tube wall is found to be significantly higher in magnitude than the corresponding friction force at the catheter wall. The friction forces (at tube as well as the catheter walls) possess character similar to the pressure drop (an opposite character to the pressure rise) with respect to any set of parameters given.

Heat and Mass Transfer Analysis on MHD Peristaltic Prandtl Fluid Model through a Tapered Channel with Thermal Radiation

This paper deals with a theoretical investigation of heat and mass transfer with thermal radiation analysis on hydromagnetic peristaltic Prandtl fluid model with porous medium through an asymmetric tapered vertical channel under the influence of gravity field. Analytical results are found for the velocity, pressure gradient, pressure rise, frictional force, temperature and concentration. The in...

Peristaltic Transport of a Herschel-bulkley Fluid in Contact with a Newtonian Fluid

Peristaltic transport of Herschel-Bulkley fluid in contact with a Newtonian fluid in a channel is investigated for its various applications to flows with physiological fluids (blood, chyme, intrauterine fluid, etc.). The primary application is when blood flows through small vessels; blood has a peripheral layer of plasma and a core region of suspension of all the erythrocytes. That is, in the m...

Influence of an external magnetic field on the peristaltic flow of a couple stress fluid through a porous medium.

Magnetohydrodynamic(MHD) peristaltic flow of a Couple Stress Fluid through a permeable channel is examined in this investigation. The flow analysis is performed in the presence of an External Magnetic Field. Long wavelength and low Reynolds number approach is implemented. Mathematical expressions of axial velocity, pressure gradient and volume flow rate are obtained. Pressure rise, frictional f...

Particulate Suspension Blood Flow through a Stenosed Catheterized Artery

The flow of blood through a narrow catheterized artery with an overlapping stenosis has been investigated. To account for the presence of red cells, blood has been represented by a macroscopic two-phase model (i.e., a suspension of erythrocytes in plasma). The expression for the flow characteristics-the flow rate, the impedance (resistance to flow), the wall shear stress in the stenotic region,...

Dynamic simulation of a peristaltic micropump considering coupled fluid flow and structural motion

This paper presents lumped-parameter simulation of dynamic characteristics of peristaltic micropumps. The pump consists of three pumping cells connected in series, each of which is equipped with a compliant diaphragm that is electrostatically actuated in a peristaltic sequence to mobilize the fluid. Diaphragm motion in each pumping cell is first represented by an effective spring subjected to h...
